Maynooth University, officially known as the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUI Maynooth), has a rich history that dates back to 1795, when the Major Seminary of St. Patrick was established to train Catholic priests. In 1997, it became Ireland's youngest university after separating from the seminary and gaining full university status under the Maynooth University Act. Today, Maynooth University stands as one of the leading public universities in Ireland and is located in the historic town of Maynooth, County Kildare, just 25 kilometres from Dublin. As a progressive, research-intensive institution, it is also one of the fastest-growing universities in Ireland. The university has more than 10,000 students and over 1,200 staff members spread across two main campuses — the South Campus (original seminary site) and the North Campus (modern facilities) — located within a beautiful, tree-lined setting.
