Institute of Technology, Tallaght (ITT Dublin) is the sole higher education institution in South Dublin County. ITT Dublin is a key driver in the development of the region and works closely with regional and national partners for that purpose. The Institute draws students from Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Dublin and the rest of Ireland. ITT Dublin caters to a student population of 3,700 both full and part-time and has a staff of 400. It is also home to other European and International students.

ITT Dublin was established under the aegis of Co. Dublin Vocational Educational Committee and opened its doors to the first group of students in September 1992. Since January 1993 the Institute has been an independent third level institution under the Regional Technical Institute's Act.

From 2011 onwards IT Tallaght has validated Theology degrees from The Priory Institute which is adjacent to the campus in Tallaght. In 2013, it was announced that IT Tallaght, IT Blanchardstown and the Dublin Institute of Technology intend to apply for Technical University Status.

The Institute offers a variety of courses, including Higher Certificates and Bachelor’s Degrees as well as Postgraduate courses across the following schools: School of Business and Humanities, School of Engineering and School of Science and Computing.
