Dublin Business School (DBS) specialises in the provision of career focused business and law education as well as the delivery of contemporary programmes in the areas of arts, media, social science, humanities and psychology. The College has developed its courses in collaboration with industry and professional bodies, so that when students graduate, in addition to their academic qualifications, they will have the skills and knowledge to begin a successful career.

It has long been recognised that the role of third level is not simply to impart knowledge but to contribute to maintaining a competitive and a ‘smart’ economy, and also to play a valuable part in the holistic development of the person. Part of this development relates to the fostering of ‘transferable’ or ‘generic’ skills in individuals. DBS Advantage assists DBS students in developing these important skills.

The DBS Student Services department co-ordinates a growing number of clubs and societies each academic year which have enjoyed success at various Intervarsity levels.

DBS continues to grow and build on its reputation as Ireland's leading independent college. July 2007 saw the College’s acquisition of Portobello College. The amalgamation of the two institutions creates Ireland's largest independent third level institution with a student population of more than 9,000 and an ability to deliver over 100 accredited programmes.

DBS provides a comprehensive range of undergraduate, graduate, professional and executive education programmes. The School, which was originally known as Accountancy and Business College, was established in 1975 to provide evening courses for students preparing for the examinations of the professional accounting bodies.
